Our Craft & Heritage

Each Fabricut Furniture piece is built by hand, especially for you, in the United States. Our craftspeople have over 2400 combined years of experience building the best furniture in the world, through the application of world-class, sustainable manufacturing processes.

Many of the artisans building your Fabricut Furniture pieces learned their trade from their parents. Your furniture will be built by an experienced upholsterer to the best of his or her ability.

Sustainability Practices

Fabricut Furniture’s manufacturing facility is a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, with a focus on manufacturing furniture using sustainable practices to make several strides in recycling and energy reduction efforts. Sustainable and environmentally-focused practices include:

Converting to water-based finishes
Addition of programmable thermostats
Using wood cutting machines that reduce the amount of waste
Using a Gerber cutting machine to increase fabric yields and reduce the amount of fabric scrap created
A company-wide recycling program that includes cardboard, paper products, scrap foam, and scrap fabric
Using a wood chipper to reduce wood scrap waste by 90%

Construction

Fabrics

Our upholstery fabrics are cut by hand, one piece at a time, employing the finest matching standards to re-create the motif on the fabric to align onto the piece of furniture.

Leather

Most of our Fabricut Furniture pieces are available in leather. Fabricut’s leather library offers hundreds of textures and colorways to give you a diverse selection to choose from. With proper care, leather can endure for generations.

Cushions

All cushions are hand-cut to ensure a proper fit in the seating cavity of your furniture. Skilled hands using electric knives for precise edges cut high-density polyurethane foam. Each piece is offered with a standard seat cushion designed specifically to fit the style of your choice. We offer both standard and hypoallergenic cushion options.

Wood Finishes

We offer a variety of colors that are hand applied to complement any decor. Exposed wood pieces are meticulously sanded in preparation for your selected finish.

Inspection Process

During the Fabricut Furniture manufacturing process, each piece goes through several "in-line" inspection points. The final inspection is the most critical. Our inspectors look for proper pattern matching, deep pleats, crisp welts, and errant strings beneath the frame. Finally, each piece is expertly padded and packed to make sure your new furniture arrives in perfect condition.

8 Way Hand-Tied Springs

To continue in our practice of offering the highest quality furniture possible, we use 8-way hand-tied springs because they are, quite simply, the best.

Standard Seat Cushion

Standard seat cushion is Springdown. Individually pocketed high quality carbon steel springs are wrapped in 1.8 Density Polyurethane Foam and wrapped in a blanket of down blend (10% Down, 90% Feathers). All is encased in a down proof ticking.

Optional Hypoallergenic Seat Cushion

Optional Hypoallergenic seat cushion is available. Individually pocketed high quality carbon steel springs are encased in 1.8 density polyurethane foam. The foam is wrapped in a blanket of polyester fibers and placed in a fabric ticking.

Standard Back Cushion

Standard back cushion is Microdown. It is a combination of 90% feathers and 10% down and Micro-Denier polyester fibers which are encased in channeled down proof ticking. Back cushions include three or four horizontal channels depending upon the height of the cushion. A shorter cushion will have three channels, whereas a taller cushion will have four. This prevents the fibers from the top of the cushion from ever settling to the bottom.

Optional Hypoallergenic Back Cushion

Optional Hypoallergenic back cushion is available. Micro- Denier polyester fibers are encased in channeled down proof ticking. Back cushions include three or four horizontal channels depending upon the height of the cushion. A shorter cushion will have three channels, whereas a taller cushion will have four. Standard Mattress

Our standard sleeper mattress is a 5" thick Inner Spring mattress, which is recognized as the premium construction in the industry. The unitized construction creates an inner spring mattress that is locked together at over 120 points, eliminating bulges and weak and unsightly laced tufts. Double tempered coil springs maintain comfortable support with lasting durability. The deep quilted top and damask cover give you the look and feel of premium bedding. Supportive layers of heavy felted fiber pads and soft layers of hypoallergenic, mildew resistant polyurethane foam combine to give ultimate comfort and a restful night's sleep.

Air Dream™ MattressUpgrade

Give your sleeper sofa the comfort of a premium luxury mattress when you upgrade* to the Air Dream™ mattress. This air over coil technology gives the same appearance, dimensions and feel of a premium luxury mattress. The Air Dream™ mattress is 11" thick. It has a self-sealing valve with a large opening for fast inflation. It's compact but powerful pump with auto On/Off inflates in 25-35 seconds. It also deflates easily and quickly for fast storage in the sleep sofa.

Packaging

All furniture pieces are fully boxed before leaving our facility. The item is first placed in a triple walled tray that is approximately 4" high. If the piece has taller legs, a biodegradable foam block is placed around and under each leg to add additional protection. Additional measures such as corner protectors are then secured. The item is then shrink wrapped within the tray to prevent it from shifting during transit. Finally, a sturdy top is placed over the item.
